“Snow White” Film Premiere Scaled Back

The Hollywood theatrical premiere of the already-maligned “Snow White” has been scaled back.

This Saturday, 15 March, the live-action adaptation of the 1937 Disney animated film will be screened at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California. However, in lieu of multiple media outlets, red carpet coverage of the event will be limited to photographers and a house crew.

Actresses Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot – who portray Snow White and the Evil Queen, respectively – are expected to attend the premiere, including a pre-party event.

Fans and movie experts have been highly critical of the production process of Marc Webb’s adaptation, particularly the decision to replace the Seven Dwarfs with CGI effects and the casting of Zegler, a Latina who has previously referred to the original film as “dated.”

Additionally, remarks about the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict made by Zegler – who supports Palestine – and Gadot, who has voiced her support for her native Israel, have also received negative public reception.

Combined with Zegler’s recent comments regarding US President Donald Trump’s re-election, this has further dampened many people’s interest in watching the remake.

The scaled-back premiere is being interpreted as a sign that Disney is attempting to distance itself from what is expected to be a box-office failure.
